Our Story
About Us
Russell Reynolds
Originally from Fairbanks Alaska, Russell spent his early years in Arizona and Texas, where fishing first shaped his connection to the outdoors.
In 2015, he was introduced to fly-fishing by his longtime friend Jose Mata, who later became the original cohost of the show. After nearly two decades of friendship and building the podcast together, Jose now appears occasionally while Russell continues to lead the conversations.
Russell’s passion for fly fishing opened the door to a broader world of outdoor recreation, including recent pursuits in archery hunting. He is also the father of an 8 year old daughter and enjoys teaching her about the outdoors, sharing time on the water, and in nature while passing along respect for the land.
As his experience has grown, so has his desire to learn, listen, and help others understand how outdoor recreation can be done responsibly. Through Wild Life Outdoors, Russell focuses on conservation, ethical use, and the opportunities to explore wild places, especially those made possible through public lands in the United States.
